Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech or Agadir – Erg El Mhazil

Morning departure from your hotel heading south to the Moroccan desert.

From Marrakech: Pass through Tizi N’Tichka pass, offering spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains.

From Agadir: Cross vast plains at the foot of the Atlas.

Arrival in Foum Zguid: Gateway to the desert, passing through Tazenakht.

Exploration of Iriki National Park: Cross stony plains framed by tabular mountains.

Bivouac setup at Erg El Mhazil: Welcome with traditional tea, sunset over the great dune, dinner around the fire with delicious tajine. Night under the stars beneath an impressive celestial vault.

Day 2: Erg El Mhazil – Erg Elhaj Ahmed

Breakfast at dawn. Departure with camel caravan carrying equipment.

Trekking through a sea of preserved dunes in a peaceful atmosphere.

Camp at Erg Elhaj Ahmed: Camp setup, moments of relaxation and immersion in desert silence. Starlit night in absolute tranquility.

Day 3: Erg Elhaj Ahmed – Erg El Ghoule

Early morning departure for a new day of exploration.

Observation of desert fauna and flora, discrete but well present.

Evening at Erg El Ghoule: Camp setup, moments of sharing around the fire, between music and stories about nomadic culture.

Day 4: Erg El Ghoule – Oasis El Grisim

Departure for Oasis El Grisim, a true pearl of greenery in the heart of the desert.

Immersive experience in the oasis: Discovery of its cultural and ecological importance. Participation in traditional activities like sand bread preparation and Berber tea ritual.

Magical evening in the oasis: Dinner and relaxation under palm trees. Night in tent or under the stars.

Day 5: Oasis El Grisim – Marrakech or Agadir

Breakfast before departure by 4×4 to Foum Zguid, crossing the plains of dried Lake Iriki.

Lunch break in Tazenakht, famous for its Berber carpets.

Return to Marrakech or Agadir, arrival late afternoon at your hotel.

The best months are October to April when temperatures are more comfortable. Summer months can be extremely hot during the day.

You’ll sleep in traditional Berber tents and under the stars in desert camps. All camping equipment including sleeping mats is provided.

How challenging is the walking?

The trek involves 4-5 hours of walking per day on sandy terrain. The pace is adapted to the group’s fitness level, making it accessible to most people with basic fitness.

What about food and water during the trek?

All meals are provided including traditional Moroccan dishes. Clean drinking water is supplied throughout the journey. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.

Do we ride camels the entire time?

Camels carry the equipment and supplies. You’ll have opportunities to ride camels, but most of the journey is on foot for the authentic trekking experience.

What about bathroom facilities?

Basic toilet facilities are available at camps. In the open desert, natural privacy areas are used following Leave No Trace principles.

Is travel insurance recommended?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is highly recommended and covers medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and evacuation if needed.

What happens in case of bad weather?
